The year of the Tiger welcomes a new beginning for the world and a new norm. This year, even the celebration for love is only a day apart for the East and West.
Chap Goh Meh (meaning “15th night” in Hokkien), is the final day of the Chinese New Year celebration, and is the day to pursue love and family togetherness. The day is also referred to as Lantern Festival, Yuanxiaojie or Shangyuanjie, a festival with great significance to the Chinese.
According to folklore, Chap Goh Meh is a day unmarried girls get to leave the house and throw tangerines with their names written on into the river in hopes of finding a good husband. While the finding husband part remains a folklore (and ludicrous in this day and age, why would you spend the only day of the year out of the house to find a husband?), we are glad that Chap Goh Meh is now a celebration to commemorate deeper meaning for relationships with our loved ones.
Chap Goh Meh usually falls in the month of February in the Gregorian calendar and, in 2022, the festival is on 15th February, just one day after Valentine’s Day on 14th February.
Filling the air with love from both East and West, Caorunn Scottish Gin is collaborating with the stylish Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown to run a two-week promotion from 1st to 15th February 2022 for a Caorunn Gin Peranakan Affair, offering delectable Caorunn Gin cocktails from Jann KL, with Peranakan inspired bites and nyonya kuihs at Lady Yi’s Tea House.

Caorunn G&T Signature Serve (RM48)
Caorunn Small Batch Gin topped with tonic water, garnished with red apple slices
Named after the rowan berry in Gaelic, Caorunn is a Celtic botanical that makes the Scottish gin unique. The gin’s signature serve Caorunn G&T is a refreshing tipple that carries a summery apple scent, complimenting the Scottish handcrafted small batch gin distilled using 5 unique Celtic botanicals and 6 classic botanicals.
Caorunn Raspberry & Sonic (RM45)
Caorunn Raspberry Gin topped with a mix of tonic and soda water
This highball style drink brings out the sophistication of Perthshire raspberries on top of eleven other botanicals distilled in the world’s only working Copper Berry Chamber. It is gin genius and the brand’s fun alternative to a fruit salad.
Tea & Gin (RM60) Limited until 15th February 2022
Tea of choice from a selection of quality Roleaf teas infused in Caorunn Highland Strength, then served with lemon and sugar
Caorunn Gin Highland Strength at a powerful 54% ABV is Caorunn at its most efficacious. It is minty, high in juniper character that is balanced by fragrant and herbal notes with a peppery spice finish.
When infused with individual teas, it accentuates the floral or herbal notes of each tea.
Peranakan Affair Afternoon Tea set
Lady Yi’s Tea House was opened in mid-November as Four Points Chinatown’s third F&B venue, operating daily from 11am to 7pm. The peranakan themed outlet is decorated with intricate dark wood panels and bold colours of patterned tiles, batik fabric plush, and framed phoenix painting, all accentuated by the natural light streaming in from the floor to ceiling windows.
Jann KL draws inspiration from the Chinese history of migration to Malaysia, featuring exposed brick walls, floor to ceiling metal lattice work, and traditional tiles in shades of green, which follows into their F&B venues. Jann is the hotel’s chinoiserie-styled bar that’s home to inventive handcrafted cocktails dedicated to the traditional trades of the locale. Operates daily from 4pm to 12am.
