YULEZA Presents Lunar 2027 Collection, 《同堂》- TONG TANG: Under One Roof

Malaysian luxury label YULEZA unveils its Lunar 2027 collection, 《同堂》 (TONG TANG: Under One Roof), a meditation on homecoming, belonging and the enduring bonds that bring people together.

In Chinese tradition, tong tang – 同堂 describes generations or loved ones gathered within the same hall. More than a reunion, it speaks of lives meeting beneath one roof: stories exchanged, rituals repeated and memories passed quietly from one generation to the next.

Set within a heritage home, the collection captures the intimate rhythm of Lunar New Year. Wooden doors open to the morning light, lanterns are raised, shadow puppets recall familiar stories, and long white scrolls unfurl across the courtyard like chapters yet to be written. The house becomes both witness and keeper, a place where the past remains present and where new memories begin.

At the heart of the collection is a language of auspicious symbolism. Chrysanthemums represent longevity, resilience and quiet nobility, while peonies signify prosperity, honour and grace. Bats are associated with happiness and good fortune through the shared sound of fu (蝠) and fu (福), and peaches carry wishes for health and longevity.

These motifs are interpreted through YULEZA’s signature craftsmanship: dimensional beadwork, sequins, metallic threads and richly layered embroidery. Appearing across collars, bodices, cuffs and hemlines, each detail becomes a blessing embedded within the garment, ornate yet restrained, traditional yet unmistakably modern. 

Mandarin collars, qipao lines, contrast piping and pankou-inspired fastenings form the collection’s foundation. YULEZA reworks these familiar codes through sculptural gowns, fluid tailoring, open backs and versatile separates. Womenswear and menswear are designed in dialogue, their coordinated brocades, mirrored details and complementary colours expressing companionship and continuity.

The palette moves from ceremonial crimson, deep burgundy and midnight black to softer shades of blush pink, ivory, porcelain blue and luminous yellow. Lustrous brocades and jacquards bring depth and formality, while flowing fabrics and relaxed proportions offer movement and contemporary ease.

Through 《同堂》, YULEZA approaches heritage not as something fixed, but as a living relationship. Every silhouette carries an echo of what came before, reshaped for the people who wear it now. The collection honours the traditions that connect families while making space for individual expression and new interpretations of modern Chinese dressing.
