Marriott Executive Apartments® Kuala Lumpur (MEA KL) is inviting travellers to experience the warmth and hospitality of Malaysian living through Home in Malaysia, a new campaign inspired by the country’s cherished open house tradition.
Designed for extended-stay guests, business travellers, families, and curious explorers alike, the campaign offers a more local and immersive way to experience Kuala Lumpur beyond a regular hotel stay.
As travellers increasingly seek authentic and meaningful connections with the places they visit, Home in Malaysia celebrates the everyday rituals, flavours and experiences that make Malaysia feel like home. Through a series of curated activities, guests are invited to experience the city not simply as guests, but as temporary locals.

Bringing Malaysia’s Open House Tradition to Life
At the heart of the campaign is The Modern Malaysian Open House, an immersive experience that transforms one of MEA KL’s apartment units into a contemporary Malaysian home.
Inspired by the open house tradition that brings Malaysians together during festive occasions and everyday celebrations, a series of interactive experiences invites guests to explore the creativity, flavours and everyday moments that shape life in Malaysia.
“Many travellers today are looking for more than convenience – they want a genuine connection to the places they visit,” said Grant Young, General Manager of Marriott Executive Apartments Kuala Lumpur. “Malaysia’s open house tradition is one of the country’s most distinctive expressions of hospitality, and Home in Malaysia allows us to share that spirit with guests in a way that feels authentic and memorable. Whether they are staying for a few nights or a few months, we want guests to feel like they belong here.”

Step Inside The Modern Malaysian Open House
As part of the Modern Malaysian Open House, guests are invited to move through three interactive spaces that showcase different aspects of contemporary Malaysian life.
- Kitchen: A Taste of Malaysia
In the kitchen, guests can participate in a hands-on culinary experience led by MEA KL’s Head Chef Partiban Nalliah. Through a live Popiah Basah demonstration and workshop, guests will discover the flavours, techniques and stories behind one of Malaysia’s beloved street food favourites.
- Living Room: Stories from Home
In the living room, guests can visit ‘A Little Piece of Malaysia’ Postcard Bar by Kozie Krafts, where they can design personalised postcards inspired by their own interpretation of “Home in Malaysia”. Using locally inspired illustrations, stamps and decorative elements, the activity encourages guests to capture and share their memories of Malaysia.
- Bedroom: Malaysia’s Favourite House Guest
In the bedroom, guests can participate in Wunderbath’s Oyen Bath Bomb Painting Workshop, where they will paint their own bath bomb inspired by Malaysia’s beloved “Oyen” cat. Combining creativity, wellness and a touch of local humour, the activity celebrates one of the country’s most recognisable cultural icons while transforming a simple self-care ritual into a memorable keepsake.
Living Like a Local in the Heart of Kuala Lumpur
While this campaign offers a glimpse into local culture, Marriott Executive Apartments® Kuala Lumpur is designed to help guests experience that same sense of comfort throughout their stay.
Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s city centre, the property combines the flexibility of apartment-style living with the convenience of a premium hospitality experience. Spacious accommodation, fully equipped kitchenettes, in-room laundry facilities, wellness amenities and family-friendly spaces allow guests to live, work and unwind comfortably throughout their stay.
Just moments from KLCC Park, the Petronas Twin Towers and the city’s leading business and lifestyle destinations, the property offers the convenience of a central location paired with the comfort of home.
A Taste of Home at Bistro Kia Peng

No Malaysian welcome is complete without food! To complement the campaign, MEA KL’s restaurant Bistro Kia Peng has introduced a selection of Home in Malaysia dishes inspired by ingredients and flavours that have shaped the country’s rich and diverse food culture.
Curated by Head Chef Parthiban Nalliah, the menu reimagines familiar local favourites through contemporary interpretations, offering guests an opportunity to discover Malaysia through one of its most enduring expressions of hospitality and identity.
Highlights include Chef Parthiban’s Coastal Curry, featuring red snapper, lady’s finger, eggplant and tomato in a rich, aromatic curry that reflects the bold flavours and communal spirit of Malaysian dining.
“Food has always been at the heart of Malaysian hospitality. Whether it’s a festive gathering, an open house or a simple meal shared with loved ones, food brings people together. Through the Home in Malaysia menu, we wanted to celebrate the dishes and flavours that many Malaysians grew up with, while presenting them in a way that feels familiar, comforting and memorable for our guests,” said Chef Partiban Nalliah, Head Chef of Bistro Kia Peng.
The Home in Malaysia dishes will be available at Bistro Kia Peng as part of their new à la carte menu launching in July 2026.
Open Doors for Anniversary
Following its media preview, The Modern Malaysian Open House experience and select workshops will be open to the public in August 2026 in conjunction with MEA KL’s first year anniversary.
