U MOBILE DELIVERS 90% NATIONWIDE 5G COVERAGE OVER NINE MONTHS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE
U Mobile, Malaysia’s best 5G network provider, today announced that its ULTRA5G network has achieved 90% 5G Coverage of Populated Areas (CoPA) nationwide, delivering on the company’s July 2027 commitment more than nine months ahead of schedule.
The achievement, announced at an event officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications, and YB Teo Nie Ching, Deputy Minister of Communications, marks a major milestone in U Mobile’s nationwide ULTRA5G rollout and demonstrates the speed and scale of which the network has been deployed. It follows the telco’s achievement of more than 80% CoPA in March 2026, less than nine months after the rollout began and more than three months ahead of its July 2026 deadline.
U Mobile began rolling out its network in July 2025 with two clear commitments; to achieve 80% CoPA within the first 12 months of deployment, followed by 90% CoPA by July 2027. Having reached both milestones ahead of schedule, U Mobile has fulfilled the nationwide coverage commitments underpinning its role in Malaysia’s Dual 5G Network Model.

The speed of U Mobile’s rollout has been accompanied by independently recognised network performance. In 2026, U Mobile was named Malaysia’s Best Mobile Network and Fastest 5G Network by Ookla, while Opensignal recognised the company for improvements across reliability, network quality, speed and 5G experience. Earlier this year, U Mobile was also recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for the Fastest 5G Network Rollout in Malaysia following its achievement of more than 80% CoPA in less than nine months.
Together, these independent recognitions demonstrate that the speed of U Mobile’s rollout has been matched by strong network performance and customer experience.
With its nationwide coverage milestone achieved, U Mobile will continue strengthening the reach and quality of ULTRA5G, including expanding its in-building coverage footprint. Having fulfilled its first-year commitment for 5G in-building coverage, U Mobile has now surpassed 250 IBC sites nationwide, bringing stronger indoor connectivity to more locations.
