Party highlights include House of Barbie tour, meet Barbie in person, the fashion runaway, and experience the ‘Style by Me’ Barbie, a makeover session and party at the Barbie café. Winners will also receive the House of Barbie passport which will allow them discounts on selected Barbie Shanghai activities, exclusive product previews, unique promotional offers and party gifts.

The first and second runner ups were Kailey Fejer (8 years old) and Marsya Marissa (7 years old), and they walked away with Barbie Fashionista makeover with a photography package, and a pink Canon digital camera respectively.

According to Ivy Yeoh, Southeast Asia Associate Manager for Mattel, the winners were selected based on their most creative post, confidence, stage presence, and overall appeal.  The panels of judges are from Mattel, Toys “R” Us and Empire Shopping Gallery.

“To participate in the search, girls were required to submit their most creative fashionista pose with the doll. From them, 30 finalists were selected for the runaway finale,” said Ivy.

The 3-month search was held by Barbie, one of the world’s top fashion icon, to find the ultimate fashionista. She has to be someone fun, trendy and fits the fashionista profile. The search, billed ‘Which Fashionista Are You?, was open to all girls aged between four to twelve years old.

The Barbie Fashionista Finale was held as part of the Barbie Fashionista event held at Empire Shopping Gallery in Subang Jaya from 3rd to 20th June. Some of the activities held during the event are body art painting, makeover and photography, meet & greet Barbie, ‘Do the Barbie’ dance and Barbie talent show.

Barbie Fashionista Range

The search was held in line with the recently launched Barbie Fashionista range, which is an inspiration from the fashion catwalk and wearing the season’s current trends. Each Barbie Fashionistas wears an outfit that matches well with her distinct personality. The eight styles introduced were:

·           Artsy is a bohemian cutie in a printed dress, low-slung belt and knee-high wedge boots.

·           Cutie is totally trendy in a colorful miniskirt, shiny blue boots, and a playful purse.

·           Girly wears a ruffled, pink dress with a bow detail and matching pink accessories.

·           Glam is fierce and fabulous in a pink evening dress, faux-fur arm warmers, and haute heels.

·           Sassy comes with pink streaks in her hair, a rock 'n' roll-inspired outfit, and super-cute short boots.

·           Wild is rockin' an animal print bubble dress and pink heels.

·           Sweetie is pretty in body fitting dress with ruffled ends, cup cake shaped handbag and yellow heels.

·           Sporty wears a top with pink hood, brown tennis skirt and knee-high lacey boots.

Retailing at RM53.90, the Barbie Fashionistas are more hip and trendy than the current Barbie dolls.
